Hello, I am Mateo
Project manager. Parent. Expat currently based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn't in the original plan. As with many international assignments, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — new procedures, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more challenging than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet, gradually routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Vazqeri Melo
Most online resources were either corporate relocation tips or shallow travel guides. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights gained from life in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A paid-review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Mateo
